P&M Kwak comes home!
Back in our November issue we did a major feature on the P&M Kawasaki range of racing motorcycles, so this story caught our eye! Oxford Products has supported racing for a very long time and their founding chairman Alec Hammond was left speechless when he was reunited with an old friend. Oxford MD Andrew Hammond, assisted by Julie Burgan, presented Alec with the very Peckett and Mcnab Kawasaki which fuelled Alec’s racing passion nearly 40 years previously. Frame number 34 was hunted down by Oxford Products’ Classic TT team owner Stafford Evans, who then fettled the classic racing Kawasaki, adding the finishing touch of a painted letterbox fairing as used in the 1979 TT. At that time, Les Burgan and Rod Scivyer raced it in the Formula 1 series alongside roads legends such as Ron Haslam, Graeme Crosby and Mike Hailwood. That year, Les (whose widow Julie presented the bike to Alec), won the North Gloucester MCC Championship on this actual machine. It now stands in Oxford Products’ reception area in pride of place. Don’t forget that our friends at Oxford Products do a massive range of bike kit.
