Dream realised!

Classic Motorcycle Mechanics - - NEWS - Tony Beech

After finishing my little Honda C110, which was shown in your May 2018 ‘Show Us Yours’, it ended up in Dave Silver’s museum. I had a 250 Dream in the garage being used for parts, but putting on my thinking cap I wondered what I could actually do with it. I came up with a flat tracker and not a café racer as I first thought. So I stripped it down and took it to Aquablast of Sudbury and had the parts cleaned and powder-coated (including the wheels and forks). The engine was cleaned and sprayed heat silver. The rear spring came from Dave Silver’s as did a lot of the parts such as handlebars, the tank and the exhaust (except that was off a CL175), so I took it to John at MCS Metal Fabrication in Brightlingsea, Essex, to get it to fit the 250 engine. They have done a superb job. The seat came from Steve and the K&N filters from Nigel, two good friends. Rob made a box under the seat for the electrics. Chris from Sforza Racing supplied the fibreglass mudguards and I sprayed them the same colour as the tank. Clacton Car Parts matched the colour. Mirrors, indicators, rev counter and speedo, back light and other parts came from ebay, the engine was overhauled. All I have to do now is to sort the electrics out and then try to start the engine. There was a bit of head scratching at the time and I think there will be a bit more! But it was great building it and I think it looks good. What do you think Bertie? And by the way, when are we going to see anything on the Suzuki GSX1400? Great mag! Keep it going. Bertie says: “Lovely little thing Tony! And yes – when we can get hold of one, we should test the mighty GSX!” cmm
