Sandra Greatrex says: “My husband has been a biker since 1962 and has had a great many bikes. His name is Malcolm Greatrex and he will be 75 on January 14, 2020 so it would be great to feature him in ‘The Way We Were’ in the January 2020 issue of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics.

We are members of the TT Supporters Club and have made lots of very good friends over the last 55 years. Sadly we have lost a few, including Johnny ‘Ace’ Taylor and Charlie Beresford from the 59 Club. I have enclosed a few photos. The black and white shots include Malcolm’s Ambassador 250 in 1963 and his BSA 650 A10 at the TT in 1964.

The colour shots are Malcolm with his Suzuki GSX-R750 (reg GS750 EJW) at the 1991 TT, his GSX-R1100 at the 1993 TT, and finally his Honda GL1100 Gold Wing at the 1996 Manx Grand Prix.”

* Editor’s note – a apologies Sandra, an o office move means we’ve o only just found this! We h hope you are both still well and that this helps mark m his 77th birthday!

Kevin Walsh says: “This is me with the Christmas Tree on my helmet, pal Steve Mort (in the dress) and the sadly deceased Mark Speed at the Boathouse Motorcycle Club Christmas run in 1980 on my Suzuki GT380 and Steve’s Honda 550/4. Sadly, the top of my dad’s tree blew off the top of my helmet on the way home! When I got home my dad said, ‘Where’s the top of my tree?’. I told him that I didn’t know. Unfortunately this picture appeared in the local paper a week later so he found out... excellent days!” Steve Mort adds: “Ahhh yes! My old CB550 F2 at the Boathouse Christmas Toy Run in 1980! Interesting facts: this is the bike that ignited my burning love for Honda four-cylinder bikes which (along with transvestism) still lasts to this day!”
