LANSDOWNE ROUNDUP

-

The Lansdowne Classic Series new British Champion is Mike Edwards after claiming The Bonhams Lansdowne British Historic Championship aboard the Ripley Land G50 Matchless at the last round held at Brands Hatch with Bemsee. The National Motorcycle Museum-sponsored WRR class champion is Peter Crew who had a very good season on a 500 Manx Norton. The Avon tyres-sponsored 350cc class was won quite convincingly by Seb Perez on his ultra-reliable 7R AJS. Another convincing championship winner was Mike Farrall on his Rudge who cleaned up in The Classic Motorcycle magazine-sponsored TCM Clubman Class for pre-55 bikes. The highest point scorer over all classes wins the very desirable Karl-heinz Lansdowne Cup and this year Seb Perez clinched this one by winning more races in his class than anyone else and also having no DNFS. There have been seven meetings and 25 races throughout the year, all with great clubs; CRMC, Bemsee & North Glos, and all at great circuits, Pembrey, Silverstone, Oulton Park, Castle Combe, Cadwell Park, Donington Park and Brands Hatch. All the racing has been fast, close and safe and everyone is all ready to do it again in 2015. At the time of writing, the dates are coming together for 2015 and will be on the Lansdowne website as will the rules and regulations. There also seems to be plenty of interest, with new people building bikes for the new season. Check www.lansdowneclassicseries.com for up-to-date news. Richard Adams
