APRIL 15/16 CRMC PEMBREY

Pembrey once famously reverberated to the glorious sound of Supermarine Spitfires but over Easter it was classic and post-classic motorcycle engines that filled the air and thrilled the senses as the CRMC circus rolled into South West Wales for its second

-

1: Rider of the meeting, Grant Goodings (46, Yamaha FZ600), made it seven out of seven wins in this year’s Junior Production class but spare a thought for Erv Wallace (111, Spencer Yamaha), who has had the frustration of finishing a close second to Goodings in every one of those races.

2: Brilliant action from the final leg of the CRMC 500 Classic GP event between Mike Cooper (24, Craven Manx), team-mate Harley Rushton (70), Alan Oversby (40, Davies Motorsport Honda), Lee Hodge (14, Minnovation G50) and Rich Molnar (25, Molnar Manx). Riding like a man possessed after a frustrating DNS in the earlier ACU round, Molnar won this one from Cooper by just inches after a superb battle.

3: Typically intense action among the piston-port post-classic 125s. Symon Woodward (157), Ashley Beckett (37) and Jerry Lodge (4) have fun in the Pembrey sun on their MT Hondas.

4: The Lansdowne Series rarely disappoints and Pembrey was no exception. Here 2016 champion Chris Firmin (1, ACR Manx) narrowly leads pole-sitter Dean Stimpson (78, Izzard Racing Manx), former World Classic champion Glen English (obscured, Works Racing Norton) and three times Lansdowne champion Mike Russell (68, Adams Manx).

5: Defending ACU 350 post-classic champion Ant Hart (1, TZ350) leads Mike Cooper (24, Craven TZ350), Kevin Wholey (TZ350) and Alex Sinclair (Fox Classic TZ350) in the early stages of this year’s series opener. After 10 gripping laps it was Cooper who took the win after making his move on Hart at the end of lap nine.

6: The CRMC’S 350 championship for over-55 riders sees many a good tune played on an old(ish) fiddle and Peter Heartfield (8, Honda) and Paul Biddulph (28, Honda) proved the point, with four tremendous battles that saw the honours even with two wins each.

7: With long-term sponsor Brendan Ryan under the weather, Cormac Conroy was on board Patrick Banfield’striumph triple in the Formula 750 event.

8: John Warwick brought his usual small fleet of machines to the meeting, including this freshly resprayed Yamaha RD250, on which he took an impressive trio of class and outright wins. 9: Mike Cooper (centre, Craven Manx) continued the defence of his Minnovation/acu Classic 500 title with a well judged victory over Lee Hodge (left, Minnovation G50) and Alan Oversby (right, Davies Motorsport Honda).

10: It was an unforgettable weekend for Doug and Andy Street as they took their first ever sidecar wins – three in total – on the MRE Imp 1040.

11: The Post-classic Superbikes produced four terrific scraps between Alex Sinclair (42) on the Louigi Moto Ducati 1100 and Lee Hodge (14, Minnovation TZ750).

12: Scitsu Instruments/acu post-classic 350 podium. Left to right, runner-up Ant Hart (Harris TZ), winner Mike Cooper (Craven TZ) and Alex Sinclair (Fox Classic TZ).
