Down but not out!

The annual luncheon of the TT Riders’ Association, which saw Maria Costello become the first female president in the 67-year history of the organisation, almost made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Former TTRA president, and master of ceremonies at the luncheon, Nick Jefferies, felt decidedly unwell during the night before but insisted in pressing on with the job, and produced his usual entertaining performance. However, it was only when he called in at Bradford Royal Infirmary the following day that he discovered he had suffered a heart attack. Thankfully, swift attention to his oil pump proved successful and he is, as Classic Racer goes to press, moaning about how slowly things are going.
