FRANK LETTER
Dear CR,
Just wanted to say that I really do think that covering racing from 2002 is a little too ‘recent’ for my tastes. Yes, what happened in that year’s World Superbike series between Colin Edwards and Troy Bayliss is an interesting story, but I really don’t think that the year’s escapades in any championship can be worthy of the word ‘classic.’
For me, classic racing is almost all in black-and-white (well, at least in my memory!), so we’re talking early to mid-1970s at the latest – not even the 1980s. I bet my feelings will be shared by the majority of your readers.

The Editor says: “Thanks for that, Frank! Personally, 20 years ago ‘is’ classic. I recall in the 1980s my parents calling music from the 1960s as ‘classic’. As to what we put in the magazine, we try very hard to give a good mix of features from many different eras – many of which are in ‘black-and-white.’”
