About time we read about Kork Ballington and his amazing career. I’ve not met many big stars in my time but I did meet him at one of his UK race meetings in the very early 1980s. To say he was a gentleman was an understatement. Nothing was too much trouble and he even signed my boy’s cap! What a lovely fella and he deserved all his success and world titles. The only thing I wanted him to really do was nab that 500cc title with the mighty Kawasaki KR500. Who knows what could have happened with the right development of that bike, a V4 motor and more development and maybe another rider?
