“Ilove the way Eno challenges the traditional ideas of what music is and what makes a musician. He seems to approach sound more like a painter, in that it can be like a perfume that fills a space and changes the way you relate to it, you don’t necessarily need melody, rhythm or structure to engage the listener. Many people think of him as an ideas man / conceptualist and therefore not a musician at all, but I actually think that he’s the very definition of a brilliant musician in that he knows what to play, when to play and how to play it (and conversely what, when and how not to play). He always brings out the very best in others when he collaborates, and works without any regard for musical genre or boundaries. These are very rare qualities, and for me it makes Brian Eno one of the most inspiring personalities to have ever worked in the field of rock music.”
