Thunderpussy
Thunderpussy
A modern spark from a timeless sound. Combining the rebel heart of The Runaways with Ziggy Stardust’s flamboyant glam, Zeppelin’s titanic, powerhouse blues and The Stooges’ hypnotic raunch, Seattle’s excellently named Thunderpussy have embraced rock’n’roll’s foundational linchpins to craft their sound. The result is red-blooded hard rock at its most elemental: brazen, lustful and timeless.
Led by flame-haired chanteuse, free spirit and all-round icon-inwaiting Molly Sides, who struts and shimmies all over this selftitled debut in a sequin catsuit and glitter platforms, these four ladies have already built a rep for brilliant live shows.
Together they’ve recreated all the pomp and razor-sharp edge of vintage 1970s rock on riff-fests Fever, Speed Queen and especially Velvet Noose, which was produced by and features a cracking solo from Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready.
From start to finish, this is empowering, fiery and defiant stuff. One hundred per cent badass doesn’t begin to cover it.
