In Through The Out Door

-

This, the last of Led Zeppelin’s original albums, was the product of a band in turmoil. Plant was in mourning for his son Karac; Page was in the throes of addiction.

Necessity was the mother of invention. In Through The Out Door was the only Zep album with songs written without Page. Instead, John Paul Jones took the reins, updating the band’s sound with keyboard-heavy tracks such as Carouselambra and the pop ballad All My Love.

While the band’s roots remained intact – in the old-time rock’n’roll of Hot Dog and the deep blues of I’m Gonna Crawl – this album had Zeppelin facing the future. It never came.
