The Head Cat

-

Rockin’ The Cat Club

MVD Lemmy’s rockabilly supergroup claws again. The Head Cat came together during sessions for a 1999 Elvis tribute album when Lemmy started idly guitar-picking lifelong rock’n’roll faves. Witnessing this inspired Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom and Rockats guitarist Danny B Harvey to pile in, and kindled enough magic to record two studio albums. Welcoming this roots acknowledging departure from searing the world’s ear drums with Motörhead, Lemmy often plays acoustic guitar.

This now-priceless document of the night in

2004 that Lemmy and pals came out to serenade LA’s Sunset Strip with chestnuts by Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Ray Charles, Eddie Cochran and more (not a Motörhead ditty in sight) has been around the block since its original DVD then CD releases, but it’s good to have its good-natured primal tear-up back in widely available form. An interview with Lemmy emphasises how much we still miss his inimitable presence.
