By the late 00s, Paradise Lost had fully regained both their confidence and their love of guitars. Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us, the band’s twelfth album, was their finest since their 90s heyday, a record that helped re-establish them as a heavyweight proposition.

There were flashes of the band they used to be on the first half of the crunching I Remain and the grinding Living With Scars, but for the most part, such as As Horizons End and the grandiose title track, they had their eyes fixed on the future. And after their wobble a few years earlier, they definitely had a future.
