There’s barely a cigarette-paper thickness of difference in quality between the three albums Paradise Lost have released in the current decade. With Tragic Idol they continued to follow the path they forged with Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us: creating heavy but atmospheric metal, but knowing when to slow the pace and when to floor the pedal.

Worth Fighting For showed they could still write something that could, in another age, have conceivably become a hit single, but this album was the sound of Paradise Lost reclaiming their crown as the finest British metal band of the past 25 years.
