Bonzo’s Montreux

Coda, 1982

-

Do you like rock drum solos? Not in concert, where your senses are most likely ‘enhanced’ already, and if they’re not you can always slope off to the toilet or bar. But at home, sitting there wanting to listen to some good music? If so, you’ll love Bonzo’s Montreux. If not, no amount of ‘drum orchestration’ and electronic effects added at a later – posthumous – date by Jimmy Page is going to make this something you need to hear more than once. Not because it’s not good; it’s actually quite magnificent. If you like that sort of pass-the-joint thing. But if it’s the gen-u-wine Bonzo on a mind-bender drum antics you’re after, go to the 2005 DVD collection. Compared to that, this is kids’ stuff. MW
