Palaye Royale

Boom Boom Room (Side B)

-

Palaye Royale, made up of three brothers, describe their music as “fashion-art rock”. Which suggests they’ve got a talent for spinning meaningless words into bullshit phrases, if nothing else. Thankfully their second album is better than that suggests.

The follow-up to Boom Boom Room (Side A) finds them kitting out mid-00s emo rock in vintage suits and eyeliner. Teenage Doors Of Heartbreak comes on like My Chemical Romance with a B-movie fixation, while the gradually accelerating You’ll Be Fine sees singer Remington

Leigh plastering a fair facsimilie of a punk snarl across his sunken cheekbones.

Entertaining enough, if hardly the genesis of the new movement they’re so desperate to start.
