Alien Sex Fiend
Possessed Cherry red Reignite the machine.
It’s 35 years since Nik and Mrs Fiend terrorised goths at the Batcave with their crazed onslaughts of deranged psychobilly and Alicedwarfing cod-horror glee. So it’s oddly reassuring to find them still conducting extreme lab experiments in the outer limits on their thirteenth studio album, perfecting their mutant gumbo formula by simply letting it off the leash and seeing where it cocks its leg.
After recent anthologies, the follow-up to 2010’s Death Trip lurches back to the future by venturing further into the unknown on fried-banana tracks such as Shit’s Coming Down, Amnesia, Carcass and the brainfrying Ghost In The Machine, which reverses the tape midway to mutate its radioactive blues into an endless dead-raising mantra. It’s In My Blood is the album’s mangled epic, resurrecting glistening sheetmetal guitar storms of yore.
