Ace Of Cups

Ace Of Cups High moon Cups runneth over.

- Kris needs

During San Francisco’s 1967 Summer Of Love, Ace Of Cups were the city’s first girl band to bin the expected uniforms and cover versions and blast out highenergy garage rock. Facing the male-dictated music biz of 50 years ago, the girls never got signed, despite fearlessly holding their own on bills with Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, The Band and the Grateful Dead.

In a story to warm the cockles, four original members have regrouped and recorded this 26-song album, mixing sparkling power-pop, garage freakbeat, heartfelt ballads and country blues, on which they’re joined by guests including the Dead’s Bob Weir, Taj Mahal and Airplane’s Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady. And it’s a lavishly presented double set, giving a suitable sense of occasion to this long-overdue, and quite delightful footnote to San Fran’s illustrious rock history.
