Another Winter Alive alive natuRalSound Extra studio and live tracks from West Coast indie revivalists.

- Polly Glass

GospelbeacH don’t so much flirt with 70s California as shag it heartily, and they do it well on this album that’s part live, part unreleased studio cuts from sessions for previous record Another Summer Of Love).

It opens with West Coast hero Neal Casal’s Freeway To The Canyon, all ringing, surfy guitars and misty-eyed ‘oooooh’ backing harmonies. After that there’s the infectious, enveloping West Coast psychedelia of Runnin’ Blind; Change Of Heart brings dulcet pop and Americana, reflecting that peddled by the southern likes of Ryan Hamilton; soul-warming piano and psychcountry guitar lifts a live You’re Already Home; but Down South feels more like an off-cut than a hidden gem.

Not quite a ‘new’ album in the proper sense, but still a warming introduction to their world.
