Cinderella

The Mercury Years Caroline International/mercury You shall go to the ball!

- essi Berelian

From 80s hairmetal success story – first championed by both Gene Simmons and Jon Bon Jovi – to bluesy hard rockers toughing it out in a world gone grunge, over the course of these four albums Cinderella stuck to their guns, with chief writer Tom Keifer consistently delivering the goods even though their record sales were dwindling.

All four of their albums are bursting with great tracks, and the inclusion of a slew of single edits, live tracks and B-sides makes The Mercury Years even more enjoyable. First album Night Songs boasts the cunningly titled The Live EP, while a fifth disc contains 14 live tracks including the Live Train To Heartbreak Station EP. Kicking off with a sparky cover of Jumpin’ Jack Flash, this disc is brimming with energy and showcases the live talent that got Simmons and Bon Jovi so excited in the first place.

A very tidy collection indeed.
