Eagles

Legacy Rhino All the Eagles you could possibly want. And then some.

- Siân llewellyn

As deluxe collections go, the new box set from the Eagles is something pretty special. The aptly titled Legacy collates all of the Eagles output in one big, luxurious package. Opt for the 15-LP vinyl version and you get two handsome book-style volumes, conveniently split into The Studio Albums and Live And Bonus, in a silver-embossed, heavy-duty slipcase alongside a hard-backed 54-page book of rare

photographs and memorabilia. As the title suggests, The Studio Albums includes every release from 1972’s Eagles through to 2007’s Long Road Out Of Eden.

While you can’t really argue with the canon of albums presented, it’s the Live And Bonus portion that impresses. Bob Ludwig has remastered both the Hell Freezes Over and Millennium Concert albums. The latter, appearing on vinyl for the first time, sounds fantastic on my gnarly (original 70s) old turntable, while you’d be very lucky to have a scored a vinyl HFO when it first came out as it was only a limited release. If CDs are more your thing, then that edition has the added bonus of two concert films: Hell Freezes Over on DVD and Farewell Tour: Live From Melbourne on Blu-ray.

So you pays your money, you take your pick. But either way, if you’re after a one-stop Eagles shop, you’ll not be disappointed.
