Birmingham To Honour Sabbath

Plans for home-town bridge and more mooted.

-

Plans are afoot to pay tribute to Black Sabbath in their home town of Birmingham, which if they come off would see a Black Sabbath bridge built over the canal on Broad Street, and an accompanying metal bench, plus the addition of a final band member to a Hollywood-style walk of fame that honours local celebrities. Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi are already enshrined in Brum’s Walk Of Stars and, in line with this proposal, Bill Ward, the co-founding drummer, who sat out their last tour, would join them.

The proposal comes from Mohammed Osama, an architect and lifelong fan of the band, whose ultimate goal is to involve all four members in the unveiling of the star for Ward and the metal bench.

“Just to reunite them together, no gigs or anything,” Osama clarifies. “Just the four of them being celebrated together at their home town would be the best ending and closure I could possibly think of.” Birmingham City Council are yet to make an official comment. DL
