WALKING PAPERS
WP2 LOUD & PROUD
A considerable step up from 2013’s self-titled debut – as enjoyable as that was – Seattle’s Walking Papers’ second was a far rangier beast. A deceptive veneer of scuffed grungy blues did a poor job of concealing far more accomplished wonders underneath: anthemic songcraft, narrative nous and a singular boldness. Add a soupcon of QOTSA swagger, and a sprinkling of
U2’s better qualities and you’re getting warmer. TB
