SLASH FEAT MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS
Living The Dream roadrunner
With full Guns N’ Roses duty taking up the lion’s share of the be-hatted virtuoso’s diary, it’s a testament to Slash’s commitment and drive – not to mention riff-mining fecundity – that this third outing exists at all. Broader in palette than its predecessors, yet equally compact in its arrangements, the full mood board is on display here. Chiselled and punchy, it’s drenched in trademark sweeping blues flights and searing onenoters; with a smattering of left-turns here and there to gloss and modernise the experience. Kennedy’s four-octave tenor – with its melodramatic upper and lower end vibrato – alternately rips, whispers and soars in perfect pitch. No mere technician, however, he’s ably capable of wringing sizeable portions of emotion from whatever’s at hand. The Conspirators are tied tighter than a Gordian knot, and hints of AC/DC and 80s Aerosmith serve to further dial up the delight. TB
