Classic Rock - - The Dirt - Ed­die C Camp­bell May 6, 1939 – Novem­ber 20, 2018

Born in Mis­sis­sippi 79 years ago, by the time he was 12 Ed­die C Camp­bell was sit­ting in with Muddy Wa­ters’s band. The gui­tarist/singer was a side­man for Howlin’ Wolf, Lit­tle Wal­ter, Lit­tle Johnny Tay­lor and Jimmy Reed, be­fore Wil­lie Dixon pulled him into the Chicago Blues All-Stars in 1976.

Roy Bai­ley

Oc­to­ber 20, 1935 – Novem­ber 20, 2018

Known for a so­cially aware style of folk, Lon­doner Roy Bai­ley be­gan his ca­reer in a sk­if­fle band in 1968. In 2000 he re­ceived an MBE, but re­turned it six years later in protest against Bri­tish sup­port of the Is­raeli in­va­sion of Le­banon. He was 83.

Scott English

Jan­uary 10, 1937 – Novem­ber 16, 2018

Scott English was prob­a­bly best known for hav­ing writ­ten the song Brandy, which be­came a hit for Barry Manilow as Mandy. New Yorker English also co-wrote the Jeff Beck hit Hi Ho Sil­ver Lin­ing. English was 81 years old at the time of his pass­ing.

Bill Caddick

June 27, 1944 – Novem­ber 19, 2018

A sta­ple of the Bri­tish folk-rock scene, singer, gui­tarist and song­writer Bill Caddick found fame with the Al­bion Band and went on to form the splin­ter group Home Ser­vice in 1980. In later life pur­sued a solo ca­reer as well as run­ning a folk club. Caddick was 74 at the time of his death.

Ed­die Reeves

Novem­ber 17, 1939 – Novem­ber 18, 2018

Texan Ed­die Reeves pur­sued a di­verse ca­reer in mu­sic, work­ing as a song­writer, record­ing artist, mu­sic pub­lisher, artist man­ager, record com­pany ex­ec­u­tive and au­thor. His com­po­si­tions were recorded by Sonny & Cher, Ray Charles and Kenny Rogers, among oth­ers. Reeves was 79 when he died due to a stroke.

Peter Si­mon Died Novem­ber 18, 2018

Pho­tog­ra­pher Peter Si­mon took some of the most iconic im­ages of the Grate­ful Dead, hav­ing shot them live for the first time in 1969. The brother of the singer Carly Si­mon, Peter pho­tographed many mu­si­cians and celebri­ties of the era. He suc­cumbed to a fa­tal car­diac ar­rest. He was 71.
