An audio-visual spectacular.

From May 2017 to December 2018, Roger Waters’s hugegrossing Us + Them tour was a remarkable reassertion of one man’s renaissance. This film, taken from the June 2018 Amsterdam Ziggo Dome shows, shows why.

It finds Waters at his most overpowering, a rock god in his pomp. As a result, the stage set is extraordinarily lavish (pigs do fly, of course), the band are drilled to perfection and the set-list is crowd pleasingly Pink Floydheavy. Yet the venom that has always fuelled him remains undrained, and without David Gilmour’s soothing vocals, Waters’s anger takes on a new, intimate, in-your-face dimension in Wish You Were Here and Us And Them, making the film aurally as well as visually spectacular. ■■■■■■■■■■
