Mick Fleetwood Plans Farewell Mac Tour

Drummer says the band “owe it to the fans”.

Following a recent interview given by Christine McVie to the BBC, in which the keyboard player/singer implied that future Fleetwood Mac tours could happen without vocalist Stevie Nicks, her former husband bassist John McVie and possibly even herself, Mick Fleetwood has stepped in to soothe things. In an upbeat conversation with Rolling Stone, the drummer claimed to be mapping out the idea of a farewell tour.

“The vision for me is that we actually say ‘this is goodbye’ and go out and actually do that,” he said. “We owe it to the fans.”

Fleetwood was keen to dilute McVie’s comments, saying: “I think she got out of bed on the wrong side that day. She meant to say: ‘We’ve done so much. I don’t know whether or not we can keep going’.”

Meanwhile, Fleetwood and Mac’s former guitarist/singer Lindsey Buckingham “re-connected” after a nasty split that saw the latter sue his old bandmates, and settled the matter in a low-key manner.

Asked if Buckingham could be a part of Mac’s proposed farewell tour, Fleetwood replied: “Strange things can happen. I look at Fleetwood Mac as a huge family.”
