Trucker Diablo

Tail End Of A Hurricane

- Rich Davenport

Enduring Northern Irish rockers roll on.

Trucker Diablo have been on

Classic Rock’s

radar for almost a decade now, scoring steadily higher album ratings and grabbing Single Of The Week back in 2013. Their ascent has been driven by equal parts hard graft and dedication to their craft, to the point that their new album Tail End Of A Hurricane, their fifth to date, contains some of their strongest material yet.

They’ve supported Thin Lizzy and Black Stone Cherry, and their muscular sound bears the former’s melodic influence, with granite-slab riffs comparable to the latter. Tom Harte’s distinctive, passionate vocals and a knack for writing great choruses enable them to switch seamlessly between dark aggression (BTKRO, Insects),

and uplifting, radio-friendly

(Rock Kids Of The 80s). The consistency of songwriting (a couple of over-familiar lyrics notwithstanding) and animated performances impress throughout the album’s 13 fillerfree tracks, and if you haven’t yet joined the Trucker Diablo convoy then start here. ■■■■■■■■■■
