Wasting Light is no Nevermind, nor was it intended to be, but it shares with it a love of volume, noise and melody, and can be considered Grohl’s ‘thank you’ letter to the artists who soundtracked his adolescence, from Motörhead to Hüsker Dü, with Bob Mould guesting on the passionate Dear Rosemary. “What we’re doing here is in some ways making sense of everything the Foo Fighters have done for the last fifteen years,” Grohl stated.
