One By One

ROSWELL/RCA, 2002

-

So dysfunctional were the original sessions for the Foo Fighters’ fourth album, that Dave Grohl threatened to break up the band. One By One was salvaged only after Grohl binned the ‘million-dollar demos’ they’d done at LA’s plush Conway Studios, and started again back home in Virginia. Grohl has since stated that the album has just four good songs (presumably singles All My Life, Times Like These, Low and Have It All), but time has been kind to the record. Having racked up an impressive 892,000 sales to date, it’s the band’s biggestselling studio album in the UK.
