Despite pressure from Atlantic Records, Stairway To Heaven was never released as a single, although in 1972 it was pressed as a promo single in the US for radio stations.

In 2016 a Los Angeles jury ruled in favour of Page and Plant in a claim that in writing Stairway To Heaven they had plagiarised an instrumental called Taurus by American band Spirit.

At the time of Led Zep’s O2 reunion show in December 2007, download sales of Stairway helped take the song to No.37 in the UK chart.
