Festivals Are Go!
This year’s Steelhouse, Bloodstock and Reading and Leeds Festivals finally get the go-ahead to take place.
After a second depressing summer for live entertainment, with the axing of Ramblin’ Man Fair, BST in Hyde Park, Glastonbury, Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD and Fairport’s Convention’s Cropredy, as this issue of Classic Rock went to press the Steelhouse Rock Festival, which takes place at the top a mountain in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, was given the green light to go ahead as planned. This year’s event stars Europe, The Darkness, The Wildhearts and Therapy?
A press release said: “Steelhouse has been given the go ahead to happen over the weekend of July 23-25. We are working hard to create a safe event for you to enjoy on the mountain. See you there.”
Attendees must take a covid lateral flow test on the morning of arrival, receive a negative result and register the result at a government website and. Entry follows only via presentation a negative test and photo-ID. A face covering must be worn in enclosed areas, and social distancing guidelines will be in place.
Bloodstock, having added an extra day due to postponement last year, is also set to take place between August 11 and 15 at Catton Park in Derbyshire. Reading and Leeds Festivals have also been given the go-ahead to take place over the usual August Bank Holiday weekend.
Meanwhile, the ever-popular French event Hellfest has revealed an astounding line-up for next summer. Hellfest 2022 will take place over two weekends, with a whopping 350 artists set to perform across six stages during 10 days of music. Its stellar list of attractions includes Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Faith No More, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Nightwish. Hellfest takes place in Clisson, Western France, on June 17-19 and June 23-26, 2022.
