The Hot Damn!
Live Laugh Love
This has been one of our cheer-up songs since the days began to get darker earlier, one of those pop rock bangers that’ll have the corners of your mouth twitching upwards in seconds.
“It’s a parody of those motivational signs which were very popular in kitchens in the late noughties,” singer/guitarist Gill Montgomery says. “There’s a lot of doom and gloom in the news, but we want to spread a little cheer.”
And spread it they do – thick layers in an ultra-riffy, super-sized cheese sandwich on cheesy bread, with a cheese plate on the side. In a good way. It’s as if The Darkness teamed up with Pat Benatar and bonded over Blink 182 hits (and, whisper it, a little McFly-ish). Uncool, uncomplicated, super-effective fun. thehotdamn.com
