Big Cats purr into Florida

-

For more than 30 years, the Jaguar Club of North America has held events celebrating a passion for the marque. The first Annual Southeast Regional Concours d’elegance on 15 April was no exception, drawing Jaguars of all types to Charlotte Harbor Convention Center in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Jerry and Janice Wise from Tallahassee arrived in their black 1963 E-type roadster (or XKE in local parlance). This car spent years in a showroom in Rome, Italy wearing a ‘not for sale’ sign before being restored 20 years ago. It’s still holding up well, and secured first place overall in the concours with an impressive 100-point tally.

Tom Wright from Deland, Florida brought his 1959 Jaguar XK150S fhc, one of fewer than 100 to be sold Stateside. Another rarity – in the US at least – was Steve Quilty’s 2007 X-type estate, the last of 422 cars sold in America.
