Classic enthusiast Paul Regan stumbled across a number of unusual vehicles while touring south-east Asia. As a Mercedes W123 enthusiast himself, he was delighted to discover a stretched limousine version of the ’80s Benz in Cambodia: “We borrowed a quad and rode out into the countryside around Siem Reap, where we spotted this W123 limo in what’s probably its final resting place.” The badges show that it’s fitted with the desirable 300D turbodiesel engine, but it’s in a rough state.
A short while later, in Malaysia, Regan was surprised to find an MG Magnette on Penang island. Although painted in two-tone silver over black, the car appears to be a non-varitone ‘small-window’ ZB. Someone looks to be caring for the car, however, because there’s a replacement for the missing bumper inside. The interior itself is largely intact, but the dashboard veneers have deteriorated badly.
