Throttle apologises: last month I placed Chagford Street, where the first Bentley was built in 1919, in Cricklewoo­d. Actually it’s just north of Baker Street, NW1. Bentley moved to Oxgate Lane, Cricklewoo­d a year later. Simon Taylor

I was happy to receive a copy of your April issue at the Amelia Island Concours, but would like to point out to Mr Buckley that Bill Lear didn’t found Motorola as he states in his article on 8-Tracks (Backfire). I worked for them fresh out of school and had the pleasure of meeting the founder, Paul Galvin. He and his brother started the firm in 1930. Tom Gregory

As an XJ-S owner, I can assure Simon Charleswor­th that it doesn’t have a fly-off handbrake (C&SC, April), but a drop-down one that has to be released by pressing the button as normal. The old DBS that I am restoring does have one, however!
