Gareth Graham

BENTLEY SPEED MODEL

When not fettling chain-drive titans or a Grand Prix Mercedes, Welsh specialist Gareth Graham enjoys competing in his 1925 Bentley 3/41/2 Litre. “The car’s a great all-rounder and is used in trials, hillclimbs, sprints and races,” enthuses Graham. In the Caracciola Sportwagenrennen race, the Bentley competed against a pack of younger supercharged sports cars.

Graham says: “My start was frustrating and I thought I’d be stuck behind a BMW 328 but I just sneaked past at the Chicane. From then I had a great dice with Marcus Black’s Talbot-lago T23.” Graham eventually finished sixth.

Afterwards, he was glad not to be driving the Bentley back to Wales because of the cold. The car’s next outing will be at the Brazzeltag, at the Technik Museum Speyer on 12/13 May.
