British dealer wins big in Germany
Among the vendors at this year’s Techno-classica Essen in Germany from 21-25 March was Essex-based Vintage & Prestige, and the firm was in celebratory mood after picking up the Veteran and Limousine class gongs for its 1911 Rollsroyce Silver Ghost. Originally bodied by Hooper and sent to the Coronation Durbar of George V in India on 12 December 1912, the car later returned to England to be rebodied with open-drive limousine coachwork by Grosvenor before being shipped to Australia.
Painstakingly restored with an exacting replica of the Grosvenor body, ‘The Dreamer’ was superbly presented on the V&P stand in two-tone Aubergine and Dutch Pink, with purple Bedford cord and matching Wilton carpet to the rear compartment, making it a particularly striking sight.
“We usually expect to get something, but to get two first places for a single car really was a surprise,” said Vintage & Prestige’s sales director Mike Kliebenstein. The Rolls-royce is still available, and could be yours for £1,425,000. See www.vandp.net
