This year’s Gran Premio Nu­volari, held from 15-17 Septem­ber and run­ning for 1070km, fea­tured 48 teams, five all-women and five all un­der 30 years old. One of the star driv­ers was for­mer BMW works team ace Di­eter Quester in a BMW 328, while Jaguar XKS, Tri­umph TRS, Rileys, vin­tage Bent­leys and Porsche 356s also com­peted.

The first day skirted Bologna and took in the plains of the Po Val­ley be­fore fin­ish­ing in the glitz of Ri­mini. Satur­day was the long­est day, the high­light be­ing Siena (re­turn­ing to Ri­mini via Urbino), while Sun­day fin­ished back at the Man­tua start. The routes were in­ter­spersed with timed sec­tions.

The win­ner was the 1939 Fiat 508 Balilla Sport of Gio­vanni Mo­ceri and Daniele Bonetti; 508s have fin­ished in the top three 14 times since the event started in ’91.
