Majestic machine
Don’t be depressed about your lovely Rolls-royce Silver Cloud II, Martin (Buckley’s Market Matters, September). The iconic, instantly recognisable lines penned by John Blatchley combine style with presence. I have fond memories of holidaying in Frinton as a teenager, when this was the first model of the marque I was privileged to be driven in (also in Sand over Sable). The owner was a millionaire, which meant something in the ’60s.
The affluent family in whose holiday home I stayed had a smart Fawn over Sky Blue Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire, but the Cloud had the measure of it.
