‘Humpy’ left out

Re­gard­ing the ar­ti­cle about over­seas car re­leases in 1948 (C&SC, Septem­ber), I un­der­stand that space is lim­ited but Gen­eral Mo­tors Holden (GMH) re­leased its first car in Novem­ber 1948 – this event was of great im­por­tance to the peo­ple of Aus­tralia at the time.

It was the 48-215 (FX) sedan, pow­ered by a 132cu in (2163cc) six­cylin­der en­gine with a three-speed man­ual trans­mis­sion. The car was so pop­u­lar that there was a twoyear wait­ing list. Sadly, Holden stopped pro­duc­ing cars in 2017.
