Year 2003 Recorded mileage 120,350 Asking price £4375 Vendor Dave Richards, Oxfordshire; 07775 995098 For Rare model; it all works Against Wear and tear; a few rattles inside

This John Cooper Works is loaded with all the options, including a Harman Kardon sound system. In this one-year ownership it’s also received a rebuilt gearbox (£500), a new clutch, driveshaft, radiator and water pump, plus drilled and grooved brake discs. There are nine stamps in the service book, the most recent from the specialist vendor in 2018, and over the years it’s had various balljoints and brake pipes replaced.

The body shows only a few blemishes: three dings in the left rear quarter, a couple more in the bootlid, a scratch on the rear bumper and a chip on the front spoiler. The lightly scraped wheel rims are shod with matching Kumhos, dated 2012 to the rear and 2015/2017 up front. There’s a newish JCW stainless rear exhaust.

Inside, the seat leather is a little worn in front with some cracking on the driver’s outer bolster and a couple of small burn marks on the left seat.

The motor is now on OAT coolant, which is nice and orange. It starts instantly, with no cam chain noises, goes well and everything works, including the air-con and panoramic roof. The gearbox is silent and the synchros are all good, though the clutch has a slight judder. Temperature sits halfway up the gauge. It will be sold with handbooks, three keys and an MOT until June.
