TRUST AMONG FIVA WINNERS
The Rootes Archive Centre Trust has been recognised by the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens, the long-standing leading worldwide organisation for historic vehicles, based in Italy.
Each year FIVA celebrates those who are furthering the classic cause around the world, and the Rootes Archive Centre was awarded the 2020 Culture Award for Research. FIVA said: ‘The challenge to store and catalogue material relating to the heritage of the Rootes Group and its successor companies was massive, and fully in alignment with FIVA’S preservation and promotion objectives, as well as providing a major source of reference to enable future generations to keep their vehicles on the road – and provide technical awareness of historic motoring.’
Acknowledging the award, Archive Centre trustee Andy Bye said: “The Rootes community can be justifiably proud of what we have all achieved and to win this international award makes us feel extremely honoured.”
The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs’ National Historic Vehicle Survey won the same category in 2018, which was the first year of the FIVA Culture awards.
The winner of the Education, Training and Raising Awareness category was Frenchman Hubert Haberbusch for his efforts in passing on his unique skills to 50 apprentices, while Mexican Alberto Lenz Krahl won the award for Dedicated Service after a lifelong championing of the historic vehicle movement in his home country.
