CATCH THE QUATRELLE IFYOUCAN
Renault will mark the 60th anniversary of the R4 via a host of events throughout 2021, with celebrations on the fourth and 14th of each month on the marque’s social media channels.
Since 14 February, a ‘Parisienne’ edition with its wicker-patterned body has been displayed at L’atelier Renault on the Champs-élysées, while a pop-up exhibition at the same site in the summer will allow visitors to discover the 4’s proposed 21stcentury successor. Renault Classic will be showcasing 30 examples from March, and the following month scale models and stop-motion filming will be used to tell personal R4 stories. Untold tales will be revealed in a series of videos from May, before the car hits the red carpet at the 74th Cannes International Film Festival in July, in recognition of its movie appearances.
Graphic designer ‘Greg’ has also created a collection of illustrations that reflect the model’s different eras, which will be revealed through the course 2021, and expect commemorative memorabilia, too.
Additional activities will be announced in due course, the French marque says. Officially called the 4L in France, and known as the quatrelle, more than 8m were sold in 100-plus countries across three decades.
