K&Y FOB WEEKENDER LUGGAGE
Davide Mariscotti first came to our attention for his bespoke leather keyfobs, and following that success the Monza-based artisan has expanded his repertoire to include leather holdalls. The Weekender, as it has been dubbed, is a high-quality 49x25x26cm bag that’s perfect for throwing in the back of a classic sports car for a few days away. Available in a range of coloured full-grain leathers (we opted for ‘Testi di Moro’ brown) and even a smart suede, each bag is handmade in Naples and comes with a numbered and initialled tag in the style of his fobs, in brass or nickel. At €350-370 they’re not cheap but, as with any classic, the quality will be remembered long after the price is forgotten. GM kyfob.bigcartel.com
ARLO PRO 3 FLOODLIGHT
Keeping your car safe is easier with this clever £259 security light. It mates a 3000-lumen LED lamp with a built-in camera boasting motion detection, 2k recording, two-way audio and 12x zoom. The battery should last six months per charge, so you simply screw the wireless unit to the wall, switch it on and connect to your Wi-fi network. It’s weatherproof, and you can use the app to turn on the light remotely, send a message through the speaker or even sound a siren. GM ukshop.arlo.com
RACING SPIRIT GIN
Working on cars in the winter is a bit of a challenge for those of us without heated garages. A decent alternative is to get stuck into a G&T while planning the next job. Classic Racing Spirit opened its online shop last year with a range of goods including Racing Spirit Gin. The bottle artwork carries a Tazio Nuvolari lookalike with an Alfa Tipo B in full flow – pretty enough to want to keep it long after the gin has gone.
More important, though, is what’s inside. The London dry gin is ‘enhanced with citrus botanicals and delicate warming spices’ and contains juniper, angelica, orris, lemon, orange, liquorice and coriander. In layman’s terms, it tastes very good: not overpowering, and teamed with a good tonic a fine way to celebrate another virtual job ticked off the list. A 70cl bottle is £44.95, but C&SC readers can get a 10% discount by entering the code ‘Classic2021.’ DC classicracingspirit.com
