AUDI QUATTRO POSTS NEW WORLD RECORD IN PARIS

The Group B Audi quattro that was used in the inaugural Race of Champions in 1988 set a new World Record for the most ever paid for a rally car at auction, with Artcurial in associatio­n with Rétromobil­e on 5 February. The late model doubled its lower estimate to hit €2,016,600.

A Peugeot 205 T16 that lists 1986 Tour de Corse victory in its history file also hit a new high, surpassing expectatio­ns to secure €977,440.

Meanwhile, the Matra MS670 that Graham Hill/henri Pescarolo drove to win the 1972 Le Mans 24 Hours sold for €6.9m, a new marque best.
