VAUXHALL VIVA HB 1600 SL
Year 1970 Recorded mileage 85,000
Price £3250 Vendor Karl Burns, Staffordshire (private sale); 01543 677927
For Rare model to use and improve; sensibly priced Against Some corrosion to deal with
As if to prove how rare Vivas are, this is thought to be one of just two four-door HB 1600 SLS left, and the only one on the road. Described by the vendor as a ‘rolling restoration’, it appears to be fundamentally sound, with some bubbling under the rear ’screen and in the door bottoms, but a solid structure. It sits on 13in Wolfrace alloys in place of the standard 12in steels, and boasts Gaz dampers among a few light tweaks, along with a recent overhaul of the clutch and brakes.
VAUXHALL VIVA HB SL
Year 1970 Recorded mileage 35,000
Price £4150 Vendor Adrian Oprea, Douglas, Isle of Man (private sale); 07624 264286
For Highly original; low mileage; great value Against Splits in front seats; sparing recent use
If you’re looking for an unmolested Viva, this sweetly original two-door could be worth a trip to the Isle of Man. Featuring the base 1.2-litre engine, it has clearly been looked after and comes with service history plus evidence of recent care including an alternator, a clutch, an exhaust and a repaint in its factory hue in 2017. It’s on British plates and is supplied with a Permanent Export Certificate to help with re-registering it in the UK, plus a stash of spares.
