Safari winner hits Shelsley

-

The Subaru Impreza that Richard Burns powered to victory on the 2000 Safari Rally (above) will be one of the star attractions at Classic Nostalgia at Shelsley Walsh on 17-18 July.

Recently restored by Prodrive, it will lead a 40-car Ralli22 set that includes an ex-colin Mcrae Ford Focus, a Tony Pond Metro 6R4 and the Saab 99 driven by Stig Blomqvist on the 1980 RAC Rally.

Shelsley legend ERA R4D will also return, being driven by Nick Topliss, and Simon Taylor’s famous Stovebolt Special will take to the hill. The ‘Beast of Turin’ Fiat S76, ex-pedro Rodríguez BRM P154 Can-am car and Peter Gethin’s championship-winning Mclaren M10B F5000 are set to appear, too.

Away from the high-octane action, the Classic & Sports Car Concours d’elegance will offer slower-paced competition, and is open to any pre1985 classic. The four-class contest will be judged by a team chaired by C&SC editor at large Taylor.

We have teamed up with Classic Nostalgia to offer readers 25% off the advance ticket price. Quote ‘CSC25’ on bookings before 23:59 on 30 June. See classicnostalgia.co.uk
