RILEY’S RAINDANCE

There was a surprise triumph for Greg Lerigo in his 1932/5 Riley Special at the Vintage Sports-car Club’s Wiscombe Park hillclimb in Devon on 9 May. Lerigo secured Fastest Time of the Day with 53.95 secs, the only climb to break the 54 secs barrier before the day’s heaviest rain fell and dropped oil was tended to.

Fastest Vintage was Dougal Cawley in his Gn/ford ‘Piglet’ (C&SC, December 2020), while Charlie Martin took the 1928 ‘Grannie’ he was sharing with its owner Gary Clare up the hill in 58.77 secs to claim the Fastest Young Driver award.
