ou don’t have a baby, but you go to postnatal exercise classes. Do tell...? It’s a postnatal kettlebell class and it’s great fun! I said I was there for Call The Midwife research purposes, but in actual fact I went along to give a friend moral support. I seemed to be quite weak compared to the new mums – my friend is super-strong now she’s always lifting her huge baby, whereas I found the pelvic floor exercises impossible! What have been your favourite scenes since joining CTM at the start of the last series? I like the group scenes the best,

Ywhen all the girls are together having a laugh – like at Trixie’s keep- fit classes. They were such fun t o do, e ven if Barbara’s tr ou blesom e thighs were a topic of c onversatio­n! Of course there are many upsetting scenes in Call The Midwife , but I don’t get emotional watching myself – I’m too busy being critical. Do you think people had a greater sense of community in the ’60s than they do now? I really like how there was such a strong sense of looking out for each other back then. The idea that everybody knew everyone else, kids were always out playing on the streets and people really seemed to trust each other. It’s a shame that same community spirit doesn’t seem to exist any more. Barbara gets all dolled up for her dates with Vicar Tom Hereward [Jack Ashton]. What are your views on her outfits?
